Zumper, one of the largest privately owned rental marketplaces in North America, has scored an additional $30 million in Series D funding, which takes its total funding to $178 million. The round was led by Kleiner Perkins (which backed Inworld AI) and it follows the $60 million funding in the initial Series D round that was secured back in early 2020.

Short-term rental option

Also, the company has launched its short-term rental product. The investment will be used by Zumper to enhance its product to better serve people looking for short-term rental options. With its short-term options, Zumper directly addresses the pain points faced by renters by giving consumers the flexibility to find their residences.

Its Zumper’s short-term listings can be booked at no additional fee to the guest while other short-term rental sites such as Airbnb charge a minimum of 15%. With this short-term rental marketplace, landlords can advertise their short-term and monthly rentals.

“Our brand is aspirational yet grounded,” said Shalin Amin, Chief Experience Officer of Zumper. “We’re not just for trendsetters and digital nomads but for those in-between leases or those trying to build a rental history. We’re a solution for many people looking for temporary housing in a growing workforce of migratory workers, like traveling nurses, construction crews, and disaster response teams. Our users play a critical role in making the communities and cities they relocate to thrive.”

“With the traditional short-term rental industry, fees are too high and consumers need to look at a multitude of different websites to find the right listing,” said Zumper co-founder and CEO Anthemos Georgiades. “We want to build the most comprehensive rental platform that enables our renters to easily find the best short-term, monthly or long-term rentals with a product designed for today’s far more flexible world.”

Redefines rental industry

Founded by Anthemos Georgiades, Russell Middleton, and Taylor Glass-Moore, Zumper works with the mission to redefine the rental industry. It makes renting an apartment as easy as booking a hotel. With the rental marketplace, the entire process from browsing and touring to applying and signing the lease has become faster, easier, and more trustworthy.

Zumper connects property owners and multifamily partners with quality renters and gives them the tools they need to fill more vacancies, more quickly.

Last year, the rental real estate platform introduced PowerLeads AI, an industry-first product, which leverages the power of AI to analyse renters’ behaviours to predict the likelihood of a renter signing a particular apartment lease.
