Pleo rival from Berlin: pliant secures €18M to capture corporate credit card market in Europe

Berlin fintech pliant offers a flexible digital corporate credit card solution for its customers, focusing on seamless integrations into existing processes. Also, it offers best-in-class solutions along with attractive cashbacks and fully digital card management.

Today, pliant, the credit card provider has announced that it has closed €18 million funding in a new round led by existing venture capitalists Alstin Capital, Main Incubator and Saber. Participating in the round is the new FinTech fund embedded/capital of finleap founder Ramin Niroumand. This investment follows the previous seed round of €5.5 million it secured in August.

pliant continues to use the funds to grow and expand into other European countries with its best-in-class approach for credit card solutions.

Malte Rau, CEO & Co-Founder said: “Since August, we have increased our sales fivefold. With the closing of the round, we can completely focus on expansion.”

Credit card solutions

Founded by fintech veterans Fabian Terner and Malte Rau in 2020, pliant focuses on technology leadership in card payments. It offers users an optimal solution and can be combined with other SaaS offerings in areas such as travel, invoice management and accounting. It also focuses on software integrations and provides the most flexible credit card solutions.

Also, credit card management is completely digital. It helps them onboard without visiting a bank, real-time reporting, and card issuance in a single click. Also, users can save money on each transaction with cashbacks. Notably, there is up to 1% unlimited cashbacks, additional savings with partner deals and up to 4% cashback on foreign transactions.

Notable rivals of pliant offering corporate credit card solutions include Pleo from Denmark, US-based Bento, Stripe from the US, Paris-based Spendesk and others.

Flexible solutions for users

pliant is best known for its flexible corporate credit card solution. The flexibility lets its products adapt to the requirements, structures, and processes of both established and scaling companies. pliant offers Visa credit cards, both virtual and physical cards. Users can choose between Blue (Visa Platinum Business) and Black (Visa Infinite Business credit cards).

In February this year, pliant launched the first VisaInfinity Business credit card for Germany. It is an exclusive card ideally suited for business processes, SMEs, and corporate clients with high credit card turnover and good credit ratings. It can be used with a mobile device and a PoS in nearly 200 countries worldwide.

Besides this, pliant also launched the first-ever corporate credit card for fully carbon-neutral travel in July. This card ensures that CO2 compensation is automatically activated permanently. The easy-to-activate feature in the app of the fintech calculates the CO2 offset.

How does it work?

To use pliant’s credit card solutions, you need to first register and get a real credit card that is independent off your bank account. Now, you need to issue virtual and physical limits to the employees. You can track spending in real-time and save money automatically via cashbacks. Just collect recipients and automatically pass on the same to accounting.

There are three subscription plans offered by pliant. The Starter pack supports up to 25 users and up to 50 virtual cards, 1 Blue card per user, and €40 per month per Black card. This Starter plan comes with an existing integration and unlimited cashback. Notably, this plan is free of cost.

Next, we have the Premium plan offering support for unlimited users and virtual cards, 1 Blue card per user, €30 per month per card on Black cards, unlimited existing integrations and unlimited cashback. The Premium plan from pliant is priced at €5 per user.

Lastly, the Enterprise plan offered this credit card solution provider has an unlimited number of users and virtual cards. The blue and black cards will be available on request. There are unlimited customer integrations, and unlimited cashback as well. The few is known only on stating the fee.
