London-based legaltech Kuberno raises £3.5M from Nasdaq Ventures

Entity management and governance technology seem to be gaining traction on both sides of the Atlantic at the moment. Founded by Zoe Bucknell, Richard Wilson, and Jay Dodd, Kuberno provides an integrated secretariat management system for legal entities.

Now the London-based SaaS provider for corporate secretaries, legal teams, and governance professionals, has closed a £3.5 million Series A financing led by Nasdaq Ventures.

As part of the Series A financing, the legal tech startup also plans to launch a commercial partnership with Nasdaq Governance Solutions that includes a product integration into Nasdaq’s governance solutions. With increased focus from regulators and investors on entity management, this will help drive efficiency for corporate secretarial teams.

Further, Kuberno will use the proceeds from the Series A financing to expand internationally and enter new markets.

Through its cloud-native product, Kube, Kuberno simplifies legal entity governance by easing reporting and enabling remote collaboration. With its launch in September 2021, the solution has grown dramatically, becoming a trusted solution relying on household names within the FTSE 100, the Big Four of the UK, as well as global clients in the US, EMEA, and APAC. The company announced an integration with Insidertrack, an insider list management solution developed by Cytec and used by nearly half of the FTSE 100.

“Nasdaq was our dream partner – we are aligned on mission and values and are both committed to promoting best practice in governance for companies,” said Zoe Bucknell, CEO and co-founder of Kuberno. “Our collaboration with Nasdaq Ventures enables us to launch Kube into the global market, building on the strong, sustainable foundations we have laid over the last three years. Now more than ever, we are witnessing a greater emphasis on governance at the board and investor level as well as an increased appetite for governance tech. I look forward to working closely with the Nasdaq Governance Solutions team to help our customers reach the gold-standard in governance.”

By investing in modern workflow technologies, advisory and insight, Nasdaq Governance Solutions empowers corporates to drive governance excellence. In addition to its existing portfolio, Kuberno now offers a workflow component that supports the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

“Kuberno simplifies the increasingly complex world of legal entity management, enabling better corporate governance,” said Gary Offner, Senior Vice President and Head of Nasdaq Ventures. “We’re pleased to welcome Kuberno to the Nasdaq Ventures portfolio and look forward to building on the synergies between Nasdaq Governance Solutions and Kuberno to further advance governance excellence for our clients.”
