Healthcare workforce platform Carefam has emerged from stealth with $14.5 million in funding. The funding was led by Pitango HealthTech, following an earlier round backed by Emerge. The company did not disclose its valuation to TFN.

It has also introduced a conversational platform designed to simplify how hospitals and care providers recruit and retain staff.

The company is focused on one of healthcare’s most pressing operational challenges: managing the complex workforce lifecycle. Its platform introduces specialised AI agents designed for healthcare HR, helping organisations automate administrative processes that often slow hiring and contribute to staff shortages.

Already deployed across hundreds of healthcare organisations, Carefam supports providers in acute, long-term, and home care environments where staffing demands are constant and coordination challenges are significant.

A workforce crisis is pushing HR teams to their limits

Healthcare organisations worldwide are grappling with rising turnover and mounting staffing pressure. Industry surveys suggest that more than half of healthcare workers expect to change jobs by 2026, intensifying an already strained labour market.

For HR teams, the challenge is not only attracting clinicians but also managing the overwhelming administrative work that accompanies the process. Recruitment, scheduling interviews, verifying credentials and onboarding staff require constant coordination, particularly in facilities that operate around the clock.

Many of these processes remain heavily manual. HR teams often juggle emails, spreadsheets and scheduling tools while trying to respond quickly to candidates in a competitive hiring market. Delays in communication or coordination can easily lead to lost candidates and extended vacancies.

Carefam was designed to address this bottleneck by automating the behind-the-scenes coordination that keeps hiring moving.

AI agents built specifically for healthcare HR

Unlike general workplace automation tools, Carefam, which was founded by Matan Hoffmann and Eyal Shulman, focuses entirely on the operational needs of healthcare providers. Detailing their backgrounds, the company told us, “Both served in the IDF, in the Special Forces and 8200, respectively. The two have worked at major companies like Amazon, BCG, and Citi, as well as leadership roles at numerous startups.”

Its platform integrates directly into HR workflows and deploys specialised AI agents that manage key recruiting and engagement tasks on behalf of hiring teams.

These agents handle end-to-end communication with candidates, coordinating outreach, responding to questions and managing scheduling steps across the recruitment journey. The system also screens credentials and helps organise interview processes while maintaining continuous interaction with prospective hires.

When situations require judgment or sensitive decision-making, the platform escalates those moments to human HR staff. This hybrid approach allows organisations to maintain personal oversight while dramatically reducing the administrative burden placed on internal teams.

The result is a smoother hiring process that keeps candidates engaged while freeing HR professionals to focus on strategic workforce decisions.

Diversity statistics

In a discussion with TFN, the company stated, “Over 50% of the team are woman, with many ex-nurses serving in their first roles at a tech company.”

Faster hiring and stronger clinician engagement

Carefam’s approach extends beyond recruitment to support the entire clinician engagement journey. From the first interaction with a candidate to onboarding after an offer is accepted, the platform maintains a consistent communication thread designed to keep clinicians informed and involved throughout the process.

By automating these interactions, healthcare organisations can move faster in filling critical roles and avoid losing candidates during lengthy hiring cycles. The system also helps reduce internal workload, allowing HR teams to manage growing staffing demands without increasing administrative overhead.

Demand for the platform has grown rapidly as healthcare providers search for ways to stabilise their workforce. Over the past year, Carefam has experienced 900% growth, driven by organisations seeking tools to respond to staffing shortages more efficiently.

As healthcare systems continue to face workforce pressure, platforms like Carefam highlight how automation can support operational resilience without replacing the human judgment essential in clinical environments.

Looking ahead

“The company is now expanding nationally to all major markets in the US. In addition, we plan to expand into additional HR workflows beyond hiring and retention,” detailed Carefam.

“We invest in companies that identify critical broken workflows and fix them with precision,” said Hila Karah, Managing Partner at Pitango HealthTech. “Carefam has built the first fully operational engine for healthcare staffing. Their growth over the last year proves that they have found true product-market fit in a sector that desperately needs efficiency. We are proud to back a team that combines deep technical expertise with a genuine understanding of the healthcare labour market.”

Founded by Hoffmann and CTO Eyal Shulman, Carefam has been operating in stealth for two years and was recently named one of Business Insider’s “Most Promising Startups in Healthcare.”

“The shortage of healthcare workers today is an infrastructure problem and will continue to worsen if things remain the same,” said Matan Hoffmann, CEO and co-founder at Carefam. “HR teams are drowning in administrative noise and often miss qualified candidates simply because they can’t respond fast enough. The same challenges affect retention as well. We built Carefam to be an always-on operational layer that ensures every candidate is engaged instantly and every step of the hiring process, and the employee journey, keeps moving forward.”
